Reaching Out To Others

The St Anne Trust endeavours to encourage contact through various social activities across the socio-economic spectrum, to include all those of whatever religious persuasion or of none who live in every community. Its activities, which are widely available and accessible, take place in non-threatening venues where the Trust aims to create an atmosphere conducive to forming and nurturing positive and potentially lasting friendships amongst those who choose to participate.

I believe that music and choral singing has the power to transform, transport and to change lives. As choir members, we learn the key skills of teamwork, concentration and listening – skills important not only for performance but for life. Singing also stimulates our creativity and imagination. It brings joy and relieves stress and tension.

The Choral Festival, along with the education and engagement work undertaken by the St. Anne Trust is some of the most important work on-going in Belfast at this time. To be present and to witness the commitment and happiness on children’s faces as they perform in the magnificent setting of the Cathedral is a very special privilege.

Fionnuala Jay O’Boyle CBE LL, Patron of The St. Anne Trust

A wealth of scientific research over the last decade has proved that music education is a powerful tool for attaining children’s full intellectual, social and creative potential. The Board of the St. Anne Trust is proud to work with young people through the medium of choral singing to facilitate shared musical activities that can encourage mutual appreciation, enjoyment and the potential to forge lasting friendships.
